This part of GAD pair data migration using GAD creates a GAD pair between the target primary and secondary storage systems, and then suspends the source GAD pair by specifying the P-VOL. If the source GAD pair has been suspended by specifying the P-VOL, skip this operation.



If the operating source GAD pair is suspend by specifying the P-VOL, the S-VOL of the source GAD pair cannot be accessed from the host. Before suspending the source GAD pair, take the host path to the S-VOL of the source GAD pair offline to prevent the host from issuing an error.

System availability is identical to the status in which the GAD pair is suspended after the source GAD pair is suspended by specifying the P-VOL until the temporary GAD pair is migrated from the COPY to PAIR status. To shorten this time, suspend the operating source GAD pair while the synchronization rate of the temporary GAD pair is high, such as the time when the I/O rate is low.

  • The target GAD pair was created.
  • The host path to the S-VOL of the source GAD pair is offline.
  1. Suspend the source GAD pair by specifying the P-VOL.
    Command example:
    pairsplit -g oraHA00 -IH0
  2. Verify that the source GAD pair has been suspended.
    Command example:
    pairdisplay -g oraHA00 -fcxe -IH0

  3. Verify the pair status of the temporary GAD pair.
    After the source GAD pair is suspended by specifying the P-VOL and the copy operation for the temporary GAD pair is completed, the temporary GAD pair is migrated from the COPY to PAIR status.
