The following figure shows the failure area and recovery when the path between the server and secondary storage system fails.
- Recover the path.
- Using the multi-path software or other tools, identify the path that cannot be accessed from the server.
- Using SAN management software, identify the failure location; for example, a host bus adapter, FC cable, switch, or other location.
- Remove the cause of failure and recover the path.
- Using the multi-path software, resume I/O from the server to the recovered path (I/O might resume automatically).
