If differential data management fails due to insufficient effective pool capacity, you must release the differential data (pages) managed in the pool. You also need to release pages when you downgrade to a firmware version that does not support GAD pairs with DP-VOLs larger than 4,194,304 MB.

  1. Delete all GAD pairs that use the V-VOL for which you want to release the pages using the pairsplit -S command.
  2. Make sure that system option mode 755 is set to OFF. When system option mode 755 is set to ON, you cannot reclaim zero pages. For details about setting system option modes, contact your Hitachi Vantara LLC representative.
  3. Restore the blocked pool.
  4. Release the V-VOL pages using the raidcom modify ldev command. Releasing pages might take some time.
