You can create ShadowImage pairs. The ShadowImage pair is either added to a newly created copy group or to an existing copy group.

  • Obtain the following:
    • Copy group name

To enable a consistency group and handle multiple pairs in the same consistency group, register the pairs in the same copy group.

    • Pair name
    • Primary volume

Specify a volume that is already allocated to a server.

    • Secondary volume

Specify a volume that is already allocated to a server.

    • Whether to enable consistency groups
    • Consistency group ID

Specify this if you want to enable consistency groups.

To add a pair to an existing copy group, specify the same consistency group ID used by other pairs in that copy group.

    • Mirror unit number

Specify this if you want to create a new copy group.

If you are using Volume Migration, specify a number that is not used by a Volume Migration pair.

    • Whether to create pairs for a volume for which the capacity saving is enabled
    • Whether to split pairs automatically after they are created

You can specify this when you specify consistency group as disabled.

    • Whether to run in quick mode

You can specify this if the settings for automatically splitting pairs after creation are enabled.

    • Copy speed
    • Device group name of the primary volume

You can specify this when creating a new copy group.

    • Device group name of the secondary volume

You can specify this when creating a new copy group.

  • You must have the Storage Administrator (Provisioning) role and the Storage Administrator (Local Copy) role.
  1. From the navigation tree, select Local Protection > ShadowImage Copy Groups.
  2. Create a pair in a copy group.
    • To create a pair in a new copy group, click Create ShadowImage Copy Group.
    • To create a pair in an existing copy group, select the copy group and then click Create ShadowImage Pair from the copy group details page.
  3. Click Select, select the primary and secondary volumes, and then click OK.
