You can create external volumes that will be the migration sources for data migration using Volume Migration.
- Make sure that the volume of the external storage system that will be the migration source is attached to the port of the migration destination storage system.
- To use iSCSI to connect with the external storage system, make sure that external iSCSI targets are already registered.
- Obtain the following:
- Port to use for the external connection
- Model and serial number of the external storage system
- Port information for the external storage system that is
connected with a port for external connections:
- When using Fibre Channel for the protocol, specify WWN.
- When using iSCSI for the protocol, specify the iSCSI target name and IP address.
- LUN of the external volume
- Name of the external volume
- Start ID of the external volume group
- Start ID of the external path group
- Make sure that the user performing the procedure has been assigned the Storage Administrator (Provisioning) role.
Note: If you simultaneously perform multiple operations to create external volumes, the operations might fail or produce incorrect results. Therefore, when creating external volumes multiple times, we recommend that you perform the next operation only after the previous one has been completed. We do not recommend performing multiple operations simultaneously.
The external volumes are displayed in the inventory of external volumes.
