You can edit the encryption environmental settings for encrypting data stored in the storage system. You can also enable the encryption environment and enable the key management server.

  • You must have the Security Administrator (View & Modify) role.
  • If you disable the encryption environment, make sure that all the encrypted pools are deleted.
  • If you disable the encryption environment, make sure that local key generation is not prohibited.
  1. From the navigation tree, select Settings > Data at Rest Encryption > Encryption Environmental Settings.
  2. Click Edit Encryption Environmental Settings.
  3. Modify the settings.
    CAUTION:
    • If no key management server has been added, you cannot set KEY MANAGEMENT SERVERS to Enabled.
    • If you set LOCAL KEY GENERATION to Prohibited, you cannot restore the setting after the setting is changed successfully.
    • For details about the combinations of items that can be set, see the Encryption License Key User Guide.
    • If you disable the encryption environment, set KEY MANAGEMENT SERVERS to Disabled.
    • If you disable the encryption environment, the encryption environmental settings will be initialized and encryption keys will be deleted. The key management server settings will be maintained.
  4. Display the encryption environmental settings page, and make sure the settings are correct.
    CAUTION:
    It might take time to edit the encryption environmental settings. You cannot check the encryption environmental settings until the changes are applied.
