To create backup data, you can add a snapshot of a volume. Snapshots are images of volumes at a specific point in time. Differential data from the original volume is stored in the pool when you create a snapshot. This section describes the workflows for creating a snapshot and restoring data.

For details about more complex snapshot-related functions, see the Hitachi Thin Image Advanced User Guide.
  1. Backing up data
    1. Create snapshots
    2. Check snapshot status
  2. Restoring data
    1. Restore snapshots
    2. Check snapshot status

You can create snapshots manually by using the web-based user interface. To create snapshots on a regular basis, use the REST API. For details on the API, see the REST API Reference for VSP One Block Administrator .

Note:

The creation date and time for a snapshot is displayed based on the time zone set for the management client system. For snapshots created by using the REST API, the date and time are displayed based on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
