Create an external volume on the two storage systems that make up the global-active device environment, and specify settings to use the external volume as a quorum disk.

  • Ensure that the two storage systems that make up the global-active device environment and the external storage system in which the volume used as the quorum disk is configured are connected by physical paths.
  • Ensure that the volume used as the quorum disk is assigned a port on each of the two storage systems that make up the global-active device environment.
  • To use iSCSI to connect with the external storage system, make sure that external iSCSI targets are already registered.
  • Identify the following items required to configure the external volume:
    • Port to use for the external connection
    • Model and serial number of the external storage system
    • Port information for the external storage system that is connected with a port for external connections:
      • When using Fibre Channel for the protocol, specify WWN.
      • When using iSCSI for the protocol, specify the iSCSI target name and IP address.
    • LUN of the volume used as the quorum disk

If you use a volume with a size that exceeds 4 TiB, the size of the external volume that is created will be 4 TiB.

    • Name of the external volume
    • Start ID of the external volume group
    • Start ID of the external path group
  • Identify the following information required to configure the quorum disk:
    • ID of the quorum disk
    • Models and serial numbers of the paired storage system that shares the quorum disk
  • You must have the Storage Administrator (Provisioning) role.
  1. From the navigation tree, select Storage > External Volumes.
  2. Click Create External Volume.
  3. Select the port for external connection, and then click Next.

An inventory of available external paths appears.

  4. Select the external path to use, and then click Next.

An inventory of available volumes appears.

  5. Select the LUN of the volume used as the quorum disk, and specify the required items. Click Submit.

Information about the newly configured external volume is shown in the list of external volumes.

  6. Select the checkbox for the external volume for which you are configuring Quorum disk settings, and then click Configure Quorum Disk Setting in the action bar.
  7. Specify the required items, and then click Submit.
