Resubmit the change backup retention service for recovery

In some specific cases, resubmit the change backup retention service allows recovery.

  1. Pausing scheduled backups.
    • See Pausing a scheduled backup for configuration change in the Hitachi Mainframe Cyber Resiliency User Guide.
  2. Make sure the scheduling settings are disabled and the backup tasks are not running.
    Confirm the following.
    • No recurring backups are scheduled or recurring backups are suspended on the Automator service for scheduling.
    • No on-demand backups are scheduled on the Automator service for scheduling on the Automator service for scheduling.
    • The Automator services for backup are not running.
  3. Unlock Mu number. See Unlock the unexpectedly retained mirror unit number.
  4. Go to the Task window in the Ops Center Automator, and then identify the failed task.
  5. Right-click on the failed task and select Create Similar Request, and the previously submitted input is displayed.
  6. Keep the ATTIME for SI SPLIT Operation (Local) values for all items shown in Backup Information (Selected Items).
  7. Return all items in the Backup Information (Selected Items) to the Backup Information.
  8. Select items with the same ATTIME for SI SPLIT Operation (Local) value that you kept in step4 on Backup Information.
    CAUTION:
    When you reselect the backup information, the Retention Days column and the Expiration Time (Local) column might show the values after the retention change. But be sure to select all items with the same ATTIME for SI SPLIT Operation (Local) value that you kept in step 4.
  9. Resubmit the service.
  10. After the task is completed, resume scheduled backup.
    • The recurring backup will be resumed automatically after the end time of suspension period.
      Note: If you want to resume early, shorten the suspension period.
