Some S Series Node components have an LED that can serve as a beacon. When blinking or lit solid, depending on the component, the beaconing LED lets you easily identify the applicable component in your data center.
In some situations, the S Series Node turns beaconing on or off automatically to help you identify components.
If you have the administrator or service role, you can use the HCP S Series Management Console or management API to turn beaconing on or off for these components:
- S11 or S31 Node base enclosure: blinks
- S32 Node base enclosure: lit solid
- S11 or S31 Node server module: blinks
- S32 Node server module: lit solid
- Expansion enclosure: blinks
- I/O module: blinks
In the Management Console, you use the diagrams on the ENCLOSURE and SERVER MODULE pages to turn beaconing on or off for a component. While beaconing is on for a component, the identifying LED blinks or is lit solid, as applicable, in the component diagram.
